Welcome to In The Soup, or informally, Soupy News. Born out of a nagging dream to create my own news portal. Life circumstances (rock bottom) and a growing frustration with the current aggregators have finally dumped me here. My sole qualification is a daily habit of scouring the news with a worrying fanaticism. It started in my early teens and it has only gotten worse.

I value my privacy and have gone to modest lengths to conceal my identity. What I can share with you is that I am a millennial American. Not entirely politically adrift, but moderate enough to moderate this site. I have a compulsion to know what either side is up to and I believe it is unusually important, in these polarized times, to survey the full range of political opinion.

My goal is to provide a balanced source for all Americans and to get you reading — if not talking to — the other side. Oh, and to have a bit of fun in the process ;)

How the site works:

The columns are loosely defined, but somewhat sorted politically. News for a left-wing audience is in the left column and vice versa for the right. The most important stories, no matter the politics, are in the middle column. To encourage a complete news diet, you will find stimulating stories scattered throughout the columns.

Desktop Users: If you prefer the page full width, click the magnifying glass twice (upper right corner). You can then use your browser zoom to fine tune the text size. Browser zoom is controlled from the View menu or with the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl - and Ctrl + (Command on Mac). Your computer should remember your settings.

Mobile Users: The columns stack vertically with the left column on top. You can reverse the order with the teeter-totter toggle switch above the columns.
